Hi Wonderful Sleevers;

I keep reading 'Don't graze!!'. Heck, if I don't graze I don't get my Protein & liquid in. I'm on full foods now and it takes me a good 45 minites to eat, or about an hour to finish a Protein Drink. If I don't eat or drink every few hours, I don't get my quota in. And I really prefer to be eating, not drinking, most of my Protein. So can someone please explain what grazing truly means?

Thanks!!

To me, grazing means eating mindlessly. Grazing may mean something else to others.

I eat all day long, but it's planned eating and part of my daily goals. I can't meet Protein goals unless I eat a bit here and there all day.

I often wonder if those who set the "rules" were actually sleeved!! I think not! They tell us to have just 3 meals + 2 Snacks. Ain't no way I can eat enough in 3 meals + 2 Snacks to get all that Protein, or even enough food to stay alive!!

I'm not advocating that anyone break some or all of the rules, but I have to admit I do. Besides drinking fluids (and I don't get in the prescribed amount), I eat food/drink protein 9 or 10 times every day. I don't take teeny bites and I don't chew any more than I did before. I have never taken beverage with meals, and don't now, but I don't pay attention to how close to meals I drink because if I did, I couldn't eat 9 or 10 times a day and drink anything!

I know!!! It does seem rather disjointed. :-)

      Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

        As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

        Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

        Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

      Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
