Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

Recommended Posts

Starting to really miss eating food.....had my sleeve 9/18. It is good to read these posts, as I don't feel so abnormal now. Really getting sick of all the Water I have to drink. Damn food commercials on tv don't help. Plus I cooked for my significant other today....had to keep my mouth closed. At least someone in our house had a great meal today.

I'm there with you on the food commerials. Between Olive Garden's endless Pasta and Red Lobster's endless shrimp commericals I just had to turn the tv off!

Newgrandmother - where is that gym? I was told in my options class not to go to a gym for 3 months. Anyone else told that?

I keep reading how people are walking a week after surgery, I'm still in pain

Yeah, my surgeon wanted me walking right away. In fact was doing laps in the hospital...slow laps, but laps. And then at home at first I could only do 10 minutes at a time, just did it more times a day to get to 30 minutes. Now, I can almost do 20 mintues at a time with out hurting. Now I'm not breaking any land speed records here. But I break a little tiny sweat. If I walk too fast it moves my middle around more and hurts like hell. Sorry for the bad language. So, I walk just fast enough not to kill myself.

Newgrandmother: How far out are you (post-op days)? You sound like you are doing so well. I am so jealous of all that are not having bloating, gas, pain, etc. I am very much an instant gratification girl so this being patient and giving my body time to heal is NOT WORKING FOR ME. LOL! I wake up every morning hoping that it will be a better day but so far the changes have been so minute that I just can't count them, you know? I just want the bloating/swelling to stop after every drink. Really? Is that asking so much?

Okay so I was a bad girl today. Very bad. I brought my family to a local amusement park, was drinking plenty of Water, had a shake before we went, ready for the day. Then, I'm watching them eat, pizza, fried dough, dippin dots, hotdogs, fries, I wanted to almost cry. I caved. I bought a small cup of vanilla soft serve. Had 5 amazing bites. Was disappointed that I didn't feel sick, it was amazing. But I feel so guilty even doing it. Has anyone else been bad? Or did I really just screw up? I feel so weak, I need to be stronger.

I don't think 5 bites of that will destroy anything but obviously don't make it a habit & don't feel guilty just try harder next time.. During this journey we all have our temptations how often we sucomb to them is the key

Hey Tekara3927,

You're not alone.. There is so much temptation every where!!! BUT, I must say that today I am 6 days out and I ate green tea flavored frozen yogurt at Red Mango topped with graham cracker crumbs, real mango fruit chunks and seriously like 4 m&m minis... Lol..(Smh)... I was so scared that I would throw up or get seriously nauseous, but fortunately I didn't and I'm happy.. I currently "eat" 2 Bariatric Advantage Brand shakes, (oh, by the way I'm on full liquids, no pureeds yet), warm broth and sugar free Jello a day. I drink water to take my meds but other than that water makes me real nauseous since post-op... I read on another thread that that only lasts for a couple of weeks post-op (i really hope so)...

My only advise is to take it easy with yourself... You don't go to an amusement park everyday, so hopefully that type of temptation you underwent today is not something normal. Be happy your sleeve is still healthy and secure and continue on to making healthier choices... I don't mean to sound preachy, but I am telling myself the same advice now. Good luck! I'm sure we'll do great. =)

Thank you! That was nice to read, I appreciate that. I just am scared that if I'm allowing myself these things already, then I obviously am to as disciplined as I'd like to think I am. It's nice to read m not alone! This shits hard! I've been on liquids for at least a month including my pre op diet, my body is so over the same old things everyday! Thanks for making me feel better! I'm going to start new tomorrow and try to stay focused! ( doesn't help that I'm in a stall right now too, haven't lost a pound since Friday :( )

To Msdrea & Tekara - I also like how you put that msdrea - I agree this is harder then I ever expected - my Dr even told me don't make it a habit to always deprive myself of something - eat in small portions & get over the wanting for it & move on back to eating what you know you should... We all here for each other & will all have our ups & downs but be'n determined to come out on top... Best of luck to both of you...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
