One more step closer... I think

Recommended Posts

:) Hi everyone,

I had my initial visit with Dr. Jay (NeWeigh) and he issued some lab work, a sleep study and a visit with my internal medicine doctor. I immediately made an appointment with my int. med doctor and she ordered an EKG and chest x-ray. I completed the labs, xray and ekg and am scheduled for the sleep study on October 1st. I'm doing my part to get approved.

THEN... I get a letter in the mail from NeWeigh stating they wrote my insurance for the approval process. It was my understanding that I had to have all of these tests done first before my insurance would approve me. I am confused.

The little tests were all "out of pocket" expenses because I have a high deductible on my health insurance. The sleep study is going to cost so much that they have to split it up into 4 monthly payments.

Do I really need the sleep study if the insurance approves?

Is it normal for them to send in approval while other testing is going on?

I know I can call them and ask all of these questions, but I wanted to see if anyone else had the same thing going on or maybe went through?

I'm not being impatient, I've been big for the last 20 yrs, what's another month going to hurt LOL

Thank you all.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
