A Canadian "NSV" Thread

Recommended Posts

Can I add an NSV? Actually 2 of them.

On Friday I went to the nursing station for a pinched nerve in my back, and the doctor said to me... you have the vitals of an athlete... bp was 117/75 and resting pulse was 51. Wow... I can't belive that. And to top it all of, on Saturday I ran a 5 k in under 40 mintues... which has been a goal of mine for a while.

Just thought I would share.

Well, it must be the month everyone is buying pants! I too went shopping yesterday cause my size 20 pants were to big and ended up buying the exact same pants in size 16. I was pretty excited about that. I can't wait for 14 or even 12....wow.

I have been eating too much in the evenings and need to exercise more...I will get there. I need a kick in the butt!

Congrats everyone!

These are really fantastic NSVs. Congratulations, folks! I think the NSVs are interesting because they show things that the scale alone does not show, like the difference in the clothes sizes and blood pressure. And getting compliments is always an excellent NSV, too.:)

I had to share my NSV...I ran several laps of the indoor track without getting out of breath. I'm close to my goal and I'm losing inches now - hit a plateau but that's ok cause I feel fantastic. I love how my skin feels and hubby took me clothes shopping. And the compliments make me grin from ear to ear. Hope everyone is having a great week!

My favorite size 18 pants are almost literally falling down....yeaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!

They only fit when right out of the dryer, then they just look baggy and bad....so a few more pounds and they gotta go.

Spring is coming, so must find some nice new capris.

Thanks everyone. I started walking the track just a few laps a day and tried to add on a few more - then upped the pace just a little. It's taken 7 months but I can now run - I also feel lighter going around it.

Susansilver: just keep things small and set small goals - they are achievable and won't get you discouraged. I Celebrate my accomplishments each morning and I give thanks every morning for the miracles in my life - that sets the tone for the day. It's amazing what positive thought does to ones outlook and how much easier it is to face even the most stressful situations.

Green: Thanks! I'm pretty proud of the BMI

Yoda: Love how your ticker has moved. Way to go girl!!

Have a great weekend everyone and see you thinner.

A little NSV to add. Yesterday I was in a craft sale. In other years I just dreaded taking all the boxes in and out of the van after the sale was over, I usually tried to get my husband to come and do it for me. Yesterday, not only did I quickly load up my van, I helped two other older vendors with their stuff, and was never out of breath!!!! Woo Hoo!!!!!

I am a craft sale vendor as well. These things can be brutal, and this last Christmas just about killed me at 350lbs. I am looking forward to being a leaner, not so meaner sales machine this Christmas. I had better be since I am doing 8 - 3-4 day shows starting in mid october to early december. Oh yah I promised myself I would not lave building my stock until the last minute this year too. This is my side business for those who are interested

I have lost 28 lbs since I started the pre-op diet at the end of February. I am finding that I need to take some my clothes in because they are getting baggy and I fit into a pair of pants that I "grew out of" - yippeeeee I'm doing the happy dance!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
