Surgery Date Sept. 17 What Are You Doing To Prepare

Recommended Posts

So I have waited a long time to for this day to come but now that the day is just around the corner I feel like there is so much to do with very little time. I feel like I don't have everything I need to get me by the next 2 weeks post surgery and i am so lost with Protein drinks and what I need to do ....also getting the house ready for the family while I am under construction ( 6 month old and a 8 year old boys and a husband that works 8am to 9pm) I just wanted to check in with my fellow peeps to see what your doing to prepare... also how are you handling nerves I keep reading crazy stories as far as recovery pain and issues after surgery.

you have quite a bunch of kids and DH that you feel responsible for. DH doesn't get home til late

hoping you have family/friends/neighbor to help you for awhile during recovery -

even though DH comes home late/tired from a long day- hope he can still help by picking this and that up, doing laundry - even men can do this

just a joke men, don't throw your dish towel at me

being excited, nervous, excited, nervous again, scared, questioniong yourself about your decision to have the WLS, All perfectly normal thoughts

you do read "crazy stories as far as recovery pain and issue after surgery" unfortunately they are true, you should be aware of these stories. All surgeries have risks ....... :(

that being said - ALL the people, most of the sleeve community have good tales to tell. But people don't usually talk about how the good stuff. WLS was great, recovery too, no problems s with recovery etc. -

BTW for me -no problems with my WLS or recovery. all went smoothly, support etc. :)

there is a good thread somewhere on the board asking people to address their good situations, there are so many wonderful stories/ or simply saying how wonderful their WLS went, recovery - and "OMG, I love my sleeve" , so very happy, etc. etc.

take a bunch of deep breathes

speedy recovery

good luck

Your surgery is just a few days after mine! I am scheduled for the 14th, so Friday! Did your Dr put you on a liquid diet at all? I have been on one since Sunday. I haven't really started getting nervous yet, more excited to go through the process! I am in the midst of moving a week after surgery so my home is full of boxes right now. For my Protein Drink, I actually like Muscle Milk light and Premier Protein the best. Both low sugar and carbs, musle milk light only has 20 rams of Protein where Premier Protein has 30. I have read more good results then bad and stories about success. It is scary when you think about what you are actually putting your body though. But it will be worth it! Especially since you have children! I don't have any yet, I have PCOS and its very hard to conceive. I am a newly wed and my husband and I really want to have children some day, and I think this surgery will help make it happen. Not any time soon, but in hte future. Just hang in there, and it will be over before you know it! I can't believe my day is almost here! Good luck and just keep thinking of all the positives that you will see after the surgery :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
