Where Is The Weight Loss?!

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on August 29...gained six pounds in the hospital in three days, and I'm only down one pound...that makes me five pounds heavier than before the sleeve. I'm very discouraged.

Although I'm pre op and haven't been sleeved yet, my advice to u as a nurse would be not to worry about the scale for the first few days. Infanct u should refrain from weighing until about 7-10 days out, don't forget that u had an iv in u and the weight gain most likely is from the Iv and swellig

Don't get discouraged so soon! As the previous poster said, you had IV fluids and it takes time for everything to balance out again. Stay off the scale for a week, follow your surgeon's instructions carefully, and give it time. There are so many changes at first the LAST thing you need is to be disappointed by the scale. Hang in there!

You didn't gain actual weight....as stated above, it's all Fluid and it takes some time to lose it. I was 8 pounds heavier when I came home from the hospital and within a few days it was gone plus more. Remember, this is a journey. You will not lose all the weight you want over night. Be patient and kind to yourself and "live in the process" because it's an incredible journey!!!

What everyone else has said is correct. I actually gained 13 pounds during surrey but lost it all within a week and have kept on loosing. I know it's hard to stay off the scale, but try it and see if it helps at all. I recently went on a business trip for 5 days and couldn't weigh myself. When I got home I had lost four pounds! So, now I'm only weighing once a week. It takes a lot of will power, but I feel better seeing the scale move!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
