Goal #2: To Weigh Less Than A Green Bay Packer (And My Bf:)

Recommended Posts

My first goal was to lose 10% of my body weight. I was 293 the night before surgery. I hit the 29 lb (10%) loss mark during the 1st month after surgery. I am now 6 weeks out and almost at my 2nd goal which is to weight LESS than my boyfriend for the first time in 4 years. I was always SO embarrassed that I weighed more than my boyfriend who at 5'10"/250 lbs is no lightweight. I don't think any woman could ever be comfortable with that. Men are supposed to be bigger. Period. Then in the last couple years I started to realize that I weighed more than many professional football players! That blew my mind and made me feel soooo bad. I love watching the Green Bay Packers, but, several times during every game my heart would sink when they would show player stats. I would think "I weigh more than an NFL linebacker. Ugh." I was never drafted by any NFL team. Sure I have the girth to play, but, I'm only 5'4".

My surgery and weight loss has been motivation for my boyfriend to make some changes and he has lost weight too. It's taken me longer to catch him because of that but I don't mind. I've still got plenty to go and I'm happy to see he's ready to change too. It won't be too much longer though and he can resume his place as the biggest living being in our house. The way nature intended it.

I also calculated the average weight of the Green Bay Packer's active roster. Those 53 gentlemen have an average weight of 243.75 lbs. I'm looking forward to getting past that benchmark and down to the weight of the quarterbacks, kickers and wide receivers (190-220 lbs ). Eventually I'll slip below them all and be able to just watch football. Clay Matthews will always have better hair than me though. Go Packers and Go Me!

I can really relate! One of the reasons I had surgery was I was listening to a college football game and they gave player stats for an Arizona State linebacker and I outweighed him by two pounds. I swore I would not be "football-player size" no matter what it took. Now I'm not!

This thread is so funny. I know it's serious to you, and I'm not laughing at that, but just at the things that we relate to. You have a wonderful sense of humor.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
