Eating Quickly W No Side Effects

Recommended Posts

I think the problem w eating and drinking at the same time is that you won't be able to get all your Proteins & nutrients in. I also, and this is just my thoughts, don't think that the sleeve can be scretched that easily. Those who fail with this WLS have probably found ways to cheat & go back to their own ways. It's sad, but it does happen.

Sarahmoni- i'm glad I asked this question too! It's going so smoothly for me that I was starting to wonder if something was wrong! So i just need to slow down my intake and i'll be fine! :-)

I do feel really bad for people who are having a hard time. My thoughts are with all of you.

I didn't have my oops moment of eating too fast till I got to the mushies/soft phase. That first time it was incredibly painful and I had to walk around for a long time till I felt better. When you get to those stages please remember to eat slowly or the fullness will hit you really hard and fast and you won't like the uncomfortable feeling that follows. I'm still trying to learn this myself!

Thanks MilkD! My husband bought me baby spoons yesterday. That might help, but my mantra needs to be EAT SLOWLY. :-).

Btw, your stats are great! Congrats on all the weight loss. It does seem that slow an steady wins the race.

I was actually sleeved on August13th. So far no issues at all. I have had no pain or anything. I actually played golf and walked the course 10 days out. As far as liquids no problems at all. Now trying to eat soft foods I just cannot eat that much. 5to 6 oz top's.I found some great info as far as drinking and eating. I guess the issue is if you drink while eating the food leaves your sleeve faster and keeps you less full longer. That is the reason for not drinking during and after eating. Makes sense to me...

Well I am still trying to learn the process of eating slowly, it is a hard adjustment to do when your used to a certain way of doing things. I catch myself (but at times to late) that HEY, slow down girlfriend..LOL yes I say that to myself. I have gotten that nausea feeling and thrown up as well, no good.

I am almost 2 months out so it is a process, just remember it maybe harder once you are soft foods. Good luck!!

It's hard to eat slowly, isn't it? And i've always been a slow eater, but this is painstakingly slow. I just had some cream of brocolli Soup and I sipped it too quickly. Darn it, now I feel icky. This is a whole new world!!

Anyone have any tricks to remind them to eat/sip extra slowly?

Thanks!

put your fork, spoon down between bites. Make sure you have alot of time to eat. Do not be rushed to go and do something else. I normally work on my computer while I eat so that I have lots of time between bites.

I wish I had more restriction. I'm almost 7 mos post op and I've only vomited twice. Both times the meat was to dry. I haven't slimed. I'm thankful for that. I used to do that plenty when I had the lapband. I don't know if it's because I'm a revision, bougie size or what. I'm scared I'm stretching my sleeve. I definitely need to work on better eating habits and behaviors.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
