  • I know it's hard. Your body just went through a major trauma, and change. But you need to look at the big picture and remember why you went through what you did. You did it for you... for your health,

  • The first week or two you have to drop all the water weight from the surgery itself. So don't stress that. You aren't doing anything wrong. It took me two weeks. I'm at four weeks now and have been in

You aren't alone. I have been having a rocky time too. Lately it's been more good than bad, but I had a couple really depressing weeks there for a bit. I am certain a fair amount of it (if not the majority of it) is hormones. You are probably having the same issue. When I saw my psychiatrist last month she said she had no problem going up on my mood stabilizer for a while until I was ready to come back down. I know if I go through another rocky period like that I'll be taking her up on her offer. If you need someone to chat with or even just to vent to, you are more than welcome to message me. I'm always looking to make new friends. Most of all - don't give up! It will get better.

Hi! I was also sleeved 1 week tomorrow and I'm soooo depressed. I cry over anything but the main thing is I gained 8lbs right after surgery. :( I have only lost 3lbs of that. I just upsets me so much that I did this and Its not going to work for me. I'm not eating other than my protien shake and sf Jello and sf pudding made with my protien shake mix. I might not be getting all my water but every thing else I'm doing like my dr. told me to do. I hear so many people that's lost 10lbs the first week and I'm still 5lbs up. What I'm I don't wrong? I also take zoloft and I'm ready to double my dose just to get though this. Thanks Belinda

Belinda - sometimes our bodies are just downright mean, aren't they? =p All those IV fluids have got your retaining tons of water it sounds like. I just wanted to second what everyone else said - it will come off. Your body is just being goofy. As hard as it is, it's best to try your best not to compare yourself to others. I know, I'm totally guilty of it too - but it just gets us down and there's nothing we can do about how our body loses aside from following the plan. It sounds like you are doing great, and I can't wait to hear about the pounds starting to fall off soon for you =)

At least I'm not alone!! I guess I'm normal, too! Thank you for making me feel normal folks!!

I was to after mine I really was depress and I didn't have much support at all! I had my Sugery on the 6/25 and my birthday was the 6/2 I couldn't eat and my dauther went and got me a key lime pie she was trying I was on full liquieds for a month after and 2 weeks before ... It's get better I'm happy now my post op 2 + months and I'm

Down 50.3 lbs my legs and my feet don't hurt now u will get there ...

Being depressed is normal your hormones and all out of wack! I'm 6 days post op and woke up to my first period in 5 years( my birth control stopped it). I wanted to cry because i get horrible cramps! So just keep in mind your body had been through a **** ton and your hormones don't know which end is up

We have a support group that meets monthly. Call your surgeon or psychiatrist to get in touch.

AWW I'm sorry that would suck big time. I haven't had a period in 5 years either. Wow I hope I don't wake up to that. I'm 1 week post op so hopefully I got though that. I wish you luck!

I'm in San Antonio too... I was sleeved Aug 24th.....I've been going through the "what have I done" all week. Especially going out and seeing what people are eating at my son's football game and at dinner after church. I think we will feel better when we get to the stage where we can eat regular food. Right now I feel like I am missing all the good things but what keeps me going is knowing just a few more weeks and I'll be able to eat those things too. Maybe not as much as I used to but none should eat as much as i used to. You'll get through this....we both will. I promise :) message me anytime :)

I was sleeved on the 23rd. This morning I had a tiny omelet and a few bites of banana yogurt and lunch was about a half dollar sized hamburger with pickle, a little lettuce and onion. Yummy and I am full and feel great. I know I am pushing it a little but my doc said the only way to know if I tolerate it is try it. So far I have never been nauseous or vomited. I started with greek yogurt with grated parmesan cheese and some dry ranch dressing. Sometimes i add some salsa verde and refried black beans (so good). I also found a canned chilli with only 7 grams of fat and 17 grams of protein. I can't eat enough to get all the protein but it is good with a teaspoon of plain greek yogurt which adds some protein as well. Don't know if this fits your tastes or how much you can tolerate but I hope it helps. Also check out eggface.com for good recipes and ideas.

OMG that has been the worst for me. I gained 18 pounds after surgery!! I am now 7 days post-op and am just starting to lose it.

Believe me, I hate to read all these people losing 25 lbs at their 1st week followup appt, but I have no choice but to keep on doing what I'm doing.

I too have been worried that this won't work for me.

ok... im feeling sooooooo much better! thank you God! hopefully thats the end of the depression! im coming to terms with my new food relationship and to terms with the way i must eat from now on. its just going to be the way it is and im fine with that now.... oh i hope no one else has to feel like i did. on another note, its been 10 days since surgery and ive lost 15lbs and thats without exercise. i cant see the weight loss but others say they can. yippee! almost time to get off my blood pressure meds!!!

That's awesome! So glad you feel better.... Im 10 days post-op and have lost 14lbs! We're doing awesome!!!

your body is grieving the loss of part of your stomach and that is major!!! in these first weeks focus on your recovery your diet and try to make yourself comfotable and find things that make you happy such as a movie an object a favorite picture keep it near you as a symbol that you cared enough about yourself to take control of your wieght and health you are in the driver seat now not food! for me it was a bag of clothes that i kept filling up as the wieght kept coming off and it will that bag is almost full now.... personally i dont care for medz unless absolutely required ask your doctor about joining a support group and visit this site daily for great info and stories good luck
