I have my surgery date for Sept. 13th. I know it's still OMG! I should say only 14 days away. Yickes!!!! Well when I had my final meeting with my dr. I lost the 10lbs. he requested. But I weighed myself this morning and I'm up 5 lbs. I have a pre-operation class on the 4th. I wonder if this will affect the surgery date?

But what I really wanted to say is that as of yesterday I have a cold with cough. Took robuttusin with codine and caused my stomach to hurt. I am scared that this cough will linger on and when I go get my chest xray they will post pone my surgery because of the cold and cough....booo... Not feeling positive.

14 days is getting close =) But it's still long enough that hopefully your cough will have plenty of time to stop. Make sure you're getting in fluids/a lot of rest so your body can go about getting better.

Have you been continuing to follow your eating plan? There are a number of reasons your weight could be up - I know I can fluctuate quite a bit from Water weight. You could always mention it at the pre-op class and see what they say. I doubt you'll have problems if you just keep on your eating/exercising as you were directed. We can work to lose weight, but we can't always control everything.

14 days is enough time for your cold and cough to go away. You will do fine, eat as directed and perhaps rest a bit to help the cold go away. I know that my FIL had a cough and they did surgery anyways. So there's still a chance they will do the surgery. :)

I will very honest with you. I haven't been following the plan. It was almost like okay I want to eat this cause who knows when I'll get to eat this again. I heard this is one of the biggest mistakes one can make. But I have decided to go back on track and I am hoping that by the 4th I have lost at least 3 if not all the weight I gained. I was going to go back to they gym but I feel so tired and sick (cold). I am hoping that I feel somewhat better tomorrow and at least hit the treadmill for a bit. Better than nothing, right?

Thanks. And you are right 14 days should be enough time for the cough to go away. I'm wondering if I should wait until after the 4th. to have my chest xray?

If you do your chest X-Ray now, and there's an inflammation there, you would have time to take an antibiotic to clear up the inflammation. If you go on the 4th and there's an inflammation, you might have to postpone the surgery due to the inflammation. It's a tough call. I'd say, do a chest x-ray now and if you need to, redo the x-ray at a later date. the 4th isn't really that far away either. These are really tough decisions to make. Best wishes. XOXO

Well, at least you are honest about going off plan. Everything zoomed by for me and I was working a lot, so I didn't get many chances to have 'last dinner' issues, but I could see myself struggling with the same. Get back on track and if you're feeling anxious just give your doctor a call, I'm sure they get this issue a lot, and they can give you a clear okay about it. If you're not feeling up to the gym maybe you could do a couple short walks a day, or just making sure you're getting up and around the house when you're not resting. At this point you're doing what you can to make sure things go well, and I think that's the best choice. You should probably go ahead and have your x-ray done, that way they can provide treatment if needed.

Thank you. I have to wait until the 4th for my xray and blood work and then my 2 hour final class. I hope it all goes well.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
