1 Week Post Op - Hungry.....

Recommended Posts

I'm one week post op today, and lost 9lbs this week. However, today seems like a turning point in hunger. I have been starving all day ( tummy growling hunger). I'm feeling concerned about the "feeling full" aspect. When I'm turned loose on regular food, will I really get that "full" satisfied feeling? Right now I feel like the bottomless pit.

I'm 3 weeks out today and I've just started feeling hungry but only if I haven't eaten. Make sure your getting your Water and Protein in. The protein will help with hunger. 9 pounds is great! I'm down 22 lbs today but I was at a stall for about 4 days.

You will feel full once you start on the full liquids and puree! Matter of fact my stomach tells me if you eat another bite "you will be sorry". I only eat 4oz 3 times a day and I have 2 Snacks but nothing over 100 calories. I measure out the for oz and when I get down to the last bite or 2 I feel a huge difference in my stomach.

Have you went to your 1 week post op yet? If not, write all these questions down because when I went for mine, I for got everything I wanted to ask about cause I was so excited about the weight that I had lost.

Anyway, keep me posted I'd like to hear how your doing since our surgery dates were so close.

Good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
