Hardest Thing Ive Ever Done

Recommended Posts

I had my op 3 days ago and I have to say it was very tramatic...the recovery part that is. I am not used to relying on other but im hoping thing will get better soon. I know this will all be worth it but right now all I feel is pain and annoyance that the tastiest thing I can have is broth. Lol

The first month is the hardest! Keep your eye on the prize, and I promise it WILL get easier! Now that I'm 6 weeks out, I feel SO much better, and look back at that first month and remember how very hard it was. But now, it's soo much easier! Hang in there! You got this!!

Yes, after the first month you'll feel better. After my first month i felt somewhat back to normal. The sleeve takes some getting use to, make sure u follow ur surgeons instructions on what foods u can & can't eat. Good Luck to u!

Oh, I was so there with you! I thought I was going to go insane if I had to have another spoonful of broth. And I also hated having to rely on others, but you'll become a lot more self-reliant very quickly. The recovery is rather quick in most cases and the pain goes away.

Just think about all the new shoes you'll be able to buy! Hang in there! It will be soooo worth it.

My surgery was also 3 days ago and it was more difficult than having 2 C-sections and 1 Gallbladder removal. My surgeon told me that most people do not react the way that I did.....lots of nausea and vomiting. I also had a lot of gas trapped in my abdomen and chest....thought I was having a heart attack. The first night post op was the worst. Good luck to you. Most people do well with the Sleeve, at least that is what people who has had it done say. :) I agree with you though, this was the hardest thing I've ever done also

I'm wrapping up day one post ops and I agree with you. I was freaking out last night! I was so out of it I couldn't even keep my eyes open and I swear I thought I would never move again lpl. Today is much better! I keep thinking that the worst is over and it's only getting better. Been doing lots of walking but can hardly eat my clear liquid trays. Have had a fair share of ice chips though! Good luck to you :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
