Today Is The Day!

Recommended Posts

I'm sitting here waiting for one of my friends. She's taking me to the hospital for surgery. My surgery was rescheduled from Thursday to today. I'm not really nervous. I'm just ready to get this part over with so that I can begin adjusting to the many changes. I will talk to you guys on Wednesday. Pray for me and I will pray for you.

Thanks for the prayers and well wishes! I made it. Woohoo... I'm at home now and just sleepy and tired. I haven't been doing a good job sipping because it hurts going down. I got up and took a shower. The thought of much else is draining right now. I have a ball attached to me that slowly releases pain meds for a couple days. I think for women who've had children this will be a piece of cake (yuck), but if you're like me and hadn't had a lot of medical issues, it might be a bit overwhelming.

When I woke up from surgery, the thought of food was absolutely revolting to me. So much so, it was making me nauseous. And my friend was sitting in my room eating pizza when I woke up (double yuck)! She's a skinny cow! I was going to work Mon, but I think I might pass on that. We'll see... Thanks again everybody! Everybody will do great!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
