Are hiccups bad....possible band slippage?

Recommended Posts

It seems that since I've been banded hiccups are a much more regular occurrence now. Has this spastic motion been known to cause band slips like PB'n or other problems? Thanks-Brian

I'm a new bandster too. I don't think the hiccups cause slippage, but I have notices that I get "soft" hiccups ( not big loud ones!) when I am full. It has been my sign that I am full. I am trying to learn to anticipate that hiccup feeling to know that I have had enough to eat. This is a learning experience for all of us.

Terry ;)

Wow, I get a few mild hiccups when I am full too. That is my sign that I had better not take another bite.

On another note, I also get some pretty intense, loud, obnoxious hiccups that I never had before getting the band on a fairly regular occurance. I don't think they will hurt my band though.

I miss my loud & oboxious hiccups! Anybody around me just couldn't help but laugh at my hiccups - especially my son. But since I've been banded I have these little wimpy ones now.

The band stole my hiccups! 36_1_13.gif

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
