I was really hungry and tortured during liquids, but now that I'm pureeing, I never want to eat...everything makes me nauseous!! :(

This is me.

I do not dream of food and I eat for nutrition mostly. I am astounded at how I have almost zero desire for things I used to crave, like chocolate. I have almost no desire for chocolate and I never thought that would happen! I can walk past the free samples in the market with no desire to eat them at all. I think about food but only really because with having to get the right nutrition in I do have to plan out my eating each day!

I was at a fundraiser last night with extended family and there was chips and dips, cheeses, nibbles and pizzas. None of it appealed at all. In fact, I became grossed out watching others eating the pizza, it looked revolting! I was so scared that after the surgery it would be easy for me to 'graze' but as I am not hungry I don't see the point.

I don't seem to suffer from head hunger either. I do see things sometimes and think "oh that looks nice" but it is rarely followed with the desire to put it in my mouth!

I have been reading a bit about cellular memory and I am wondering whether hunger is a cellular memory that has gone with the bit of my stomach they removed!

Just saw your additional post.

I am almost 5 weeks out and this was the first time I dreamed of food.

I too have had no desire for food which is a very odd feeling...sorta of like having an out of body experience. My whole perspective on food has changed. We'll see how long the non interest in food lasts (hopefully for quite awhile....I love the weight loss though)

I feel the exact same way about food...It's just something I need to do...not want. I haven't had any real cravings or desires. I'm not upset about it. I hope it helps the weight elt off!

I can still taste something I like and find that it tastes good' date=' but I am ok not eating it. Does anyone else find this EXTREMELY liberating?[/quote']

Yes, I do. And I am so very grateful that I was able to have this surgery. I never released how much of a slave to food I was until I was freed from it.

Funny, I have been to Chipotle twice since surgery as my four year old LOOOOOOVES it! I order her the kids soft taco kit (to go) and get chicken as one of the sides, she doesnt like chicken so I eat that little container and she eats the rest of the meal! Works nice and we both eat for about 6 bucks (and sometimes that chicken can last me all day)!!!!! Hope it lasts too!!!!

@Texarkolina, what foods are you eating? I also had my surgery on the 30th. I'm so scared to try foods because I don't want to feel sick I tried mash potatoes and didn't like it. I can eat a very small amount of tuna so I just went back to liquids but my Dr, isn't to happy about it. So please share how are u coming alone

Really I am not branching out that much from pureed. I am doing mainly Greek yogurt and cream Soup. The easiest thing for me to eat is egg drop Soup without a doubt. There is something about it that makes it very easy to go down. I am still supposed to be on pureed, but I have found a very well chewed cracker settles my stomach and helps me get something more down. My surgeon is not real big on shakes. He says that I will be fine with whatever I can do on Protein with foods like yogurt now and meats later. I have also tried taco bell's pintos and cheese--once again chewed to death--and I was able to get about 2 tablespoons down. I can't eat anywhere near the quantity that is listed on my diet sheet. I also can't handle things like chicken and tuna pureed. It is just too thick right now. I have not gotten all my Protein, Vitamins, and fluids in one day a single time. I was freaking out about it and talked to my surgeon who replied, "I have never seen it not get gradually better for anyone. Just give yourself time--as long as you stay hydrated you will be ok." I decided after that not to stress about it too much.

Wait a bit longer - I was like this more or less the the whole first two months post-op (with odd moments where I suddenly did have head hunger), but at some point the food dreams did start. So you never know what might still happen...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
