I didn't get my date today as the surgery scheduler did not come in!

@sramos89--first I work for the insurance carrier but that doesn't make a difference. What I did was get a copy of the medical policy, followed all the requirements before going in to see the surgeon. Then I added this ( because I am an old OR nurse) had my annual physical scheduled a week before the surgeon & asked her to clear me for surgery. She did the annual EKG & Chest x-ray & got the report to me so I had it in hand. I had also had the psych eval & got that to him.

Now if I can just get a date!

You are very smart! I pulled the medical policy too and knew I had it that is why the waiting was killing me- worried they would find something I missed but I didn't know how- it was so clear! anyway, I am good now and got approved this afternoon. I didn't wait for a letter, I had them fax me the approval and I emailed it to them! Are you having your surgery at Forest Park? I am using Dr. Barker at Forest Park. I live in Lubbock and he has opened a new office here so we just go there for the surgery and all of the pre and post is here. Thank you for your help!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
