Don't know if this fits here but.... Had my surgery and all went well. LOVE my sleeve. I am down 70+ pounds but still have more to go. My doctor does a liver biopsy automatically with weight loss surgery. It came back with some Iron staining and at my first Vitamin level check my iron was 3x what it should have been. He questioned it but talked to the pathologist who just passed it off as "sometimes that happens with metabolic syndrom patients." Well I have lost a good deal of my weight but my iron levels are still way too high and the doctor says a probably have hemochromatosis. It is a hereditary condition that increases iron absorbtion. The extra iron destroys your liver, pancreas and heart... I have an appt with the liver dr. in the next few weeks. I guess it is not the end of the world as it is treatable. Still I am left wondering what it is I should be eating. My surgeon says high Protein until I have lost a bit more of my weight. Because of the hemochromatosis I should not be eating anything with alot of iron... that rules out most known foods because if it doesn't have iron in it the manufactures put iron in it. Also I should not be eating things with Vitamin C as this enhances iron absorbtion. Lots of that added to products also. So no meats, no fruits, not many vegetables, no grains.... sigh... Water, coffee and tea are about the only things I can figure out. I was drinking almond milk (unsweetened original only 35 calories per cup. Great Stuff!) but I noticed it had iron in it too.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
