Is Everything So Sweet

Recommended Posts

Hello to everyone..... I am 8 days post op and cant wait to move forward......my problem is the sweetness of everthing in my full liquid stage....my Protein, my vitamens, popcycles, ect......Now let me share with you ....my initial body fat did not derive from sweets,,,,,,I was a food girl ....you know collard greens fried chicken, pork chops, rice and gravy ect.....I even made the mistake to purchase several packs of sweet propell Water...thinking this would be better for me

I am getting nauseated from all this sweetness.....I drink alot of Soup to attempt to override this .....it is becoming difficult to swallow my protien and my vitamens which is something that I must ingest. Can someone pass words of wisdom to me.....Oher than my broth and Soups I dont have any other outlet.....Help me

Once I got to full liquids my doc approved vegetable juices ( but recommended watering them down to help with their acidity). I had to thin them out with Water because too thick made me feel sick! I personally am not a sweet food/drink lover and appreciated this. Slices of cucumber or mint are nice in water instead of sweet things and very refreshing this time of year. You can add a scoop of Unjury unflavored whey Protein to cold veg juice and you don't really even know it's there but you get 20g protein and 100 cal.

I am the same, the sweets were just too much for me. I drank V8 at least once a day. Just be sure you are taking a PPI. I thinned my Protein Drink to make it less sweet and added unflavored Protein to anything I could Soups, V8, etc so I didn't have to drink as much protein drink.

I don't like sweets either. These were approved by my doctor for the liquid diet: plain Greek yogurt and sugar free pudding with Protein Powder in it. There were a bunch of others, but I can't remember them. Sorry.

No sugar added applesauce is less sweet

Instant mashed potatoes w/unflavored Protein

Soupy grits w/unflavored Protein

eggs

Soupy oatmeal

So much of my body fat did come from sweets but I'm had the same problem. Water with lemon or lime breaks the sweetness. I also added black pepper to my Soups for a bit of spiciness.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
