pain discomfort and up date HELP

Recommended Posts

hello all, just a little up date Im 11 months banded 63 kilos gone FOREVER and its been Hard yakka.

Anyways I went and got a second opinion because I was having hard time eating anyting at all and I was in and out of hospital with rib and back pain anyways. New specialist took out all my Fluid, so thats pretty cool. But I can only eat tiny amounts still and it practically has to be pureed otherwise off to the hospital or I just take 3 - 4 panadol and that helps. Anyways how much should a person be able to eat and what should they be able to eat with no fluid now???

and lately apart from the vomiting I seem to get this discomfort/pain feelin sorta under my left rib...does anyone know what this is?

My port has moved cause I have lost so much wieght, but its not that. Ummm I go back to specialist in 2 weeks. He wanted to try no fill for 4 weeks. I am still loosing wieght only cause I Cant eat much at all lol.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo what do u think peoples???

its the left sided pain its almost like aheavy/stitch/uncomfy feeling???

after I eat and during eating. I also have to eat like EXTRA slow.

A meal for me is 2 - 3 olives and 4 cashew nuts which takes around 1/2 hour to eat lol.

CHEERS

Sim.

I'm no expert but I don't think the band is suppose to be SO restrictive. You should be able to comfortably eat 3-4 ounces. The pain is similar to what I felt when I had a slipped band BUT I've also heard it is the same for too tight of a fill and it can take weeks after a tight fill for your stomach to stop being irritated and inflamed.

Take care and congrats on being so patient! WOW!

I too have been having a discomfort, heavy type sensation on left side right below rib cage. I began noticing it after a fill in July. Then it kinda went a way until I got another fill last week and then the last couple days the feeling is back. This time my restriction was really good after the fill so I too wonder if the pain has to do with the stomach being irritated? I am able to eat normal foods but have to be very careful when I first start eating and I can not eat a whole lot at a time, since this last fill.

I had this exact same pain since my last fill about two months ago and my band eventually tightened up last Wed to where I couldn't even drink Water w/out pain. I ended up in the ER for a complete unfill to let my stomach heal from the irritation. Take it from someone who just went thru it--this is NOT normal and you should be able to eat more w/out pain or vomiting. The pain in the ribcage I only had once I was filled too tight. I tried "living with it" thinking that some saline would naturally dissolve and I would be OK but instead my band got even more irritated and tightened up on me. It was very scary. I could of had a band slip but luckily after a fluro everything was OK I just have to remain unfilled for a month. If you don't want to get completely unfilled to let your band/stomach heal I would at least get some saline removed. Just my 2 cents though..

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
