Sleeve 8/15- Hate This Liquid Diet!

Recommended Posts

My surgery is 8/15 also, the liquid diet is hard. I also was told I could do any of the following 1 egg, or salad with petite shrimp, 5oz chicken breast, it really has helped I have that in the am after I have had 1 Protein drink earlier. I have not been able to drink 5 Protein drinks a day. I get 2 or 2 1/2 down. but sticking to my guns. I was shocked I had lost weight the last week. I did not think I had lost anything. Good Luck!!

I have surgery on the 15th too. I bought Yasso smoothie packs at costco. They have bananna/strawberry with little frozen pieces of greek yogurt. With 1 scoup of vanilla protien, 1 cup nonfat milk or vanilla soy and 1/2 a package of the Yasso in the blender, its really filling and tastes really good. Not a commercial for powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury, but I have tried alot of protien powders and this is the best.

I hope everything goes well on the 15th for you, Im at 10:30 ET and just cant wait to get it done!!!

Hi, everyone! My surgery's on the 20th, so a few days after most of you. This pre op liquid diet is THE. PITS. Now that it's the weekend, I dont' trust myself to be out with friends (dinners and bars) and resist temptation. I have 9 more days to go.

My NUT recommended the low carb SlimFast shakes and it is horrendous. I've found other shakes that are better, but if I never have one of those again, it'll be too soon. I'm jealous of those of you that get an egg and cheese a day! I'm all liquid for 14 days. The headaches of days 1 and 2 are definitely gone but on day 5, I still would just love a sandwich.

I love that the silver lining (for most it seems) is that this is one of the hardest things of the whole journey which in itself is a comfort. Every day on this pre op diet is an absolute struggle for me - one day at a time!!

Are there caloric restrictions on the pre-op liquid diet?

This was the worst part of my whole sleeve journey. The preop diet was such an emotional and physical experience for me. I wish you the best of luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
