I've already lost 50lbs on the pre diet my date is next week on the 23rd. I've been the big guy all my life now I'm looking forward to the change but worried at the same time! How much cardio did you do?

I had to ease up on the cardio. I feel that i was losing to much weight to quickly. I lost most of my weight within 8 months. So i eased up but i boxed 3 times a week as well as i ran at least 3 miles at least 2 times a week. You will be fine. Pay attention to your own body. Everyone else seems to have bright ideas about how you should live at surgery.....most of the ideas come from people who havent had it! lol the irony. Take care.

Hi you look great how long did u have your surgery. ..I had mine 8/15 and am only down 43 pounds. .I started at 306 with out a pre diet. ..

Thank you! I had mine 7/25. I did a 6 month pre op diet and lost 14 pounds, then a one week liquid diet right before surgery and lost another 15 that week. Day of surgery I was at 282. So since surgery I'm only down 37 pounds and mine was before yours. So don't worry, even if it comes off a bit more slowly than we'd like, at least it's coming off!! :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
