Cigna Denied

Recommended Posts

Called Cigna today and bad news! Im denied. They are requesting a peer review with my doctor. Has anyone with the same issue and was approved after the medical peer review?

Kadive sorry to hear about your denial but I want to encourage you to keep going because it will turn out okay. I was denied for a lapband by Cigna back in early June. They did not request a peer review but I wrote a formal letter of appeal and last week I was given a decision of which procedure I wanted to proceed with! Now I have options and I am going with sleeve. I was down for awhile but GOD knows that now it seems to all be working on in God's timing. I love this site! The information and support is unbelievable and I am learning something new almost daily. I am sure someone will give you more information relating to a PEER REVIEW. Wishin you all the best and can't wait to hear the good news

Bummer. I'm sorry to hear about the denial, but don't give up hope. Your doctor may still be able to persuade them. Did they give you exact reasons for your denial? I would look through the reasons if they did and try and find counterpoints to them so that you can appeal after if needed.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
