Heart Stopped On The Table

Recommended Posts

Hers is triggered by anxiety or excitement. She sees the cardiologist again in August. He told us to look for signs, and to try and get her seated before she passes out. But he didn't mention anything else. I definitely have more questions now.

Wow. I'm so thankful you're okay. Wishing you the best with your rescheduled surgery. I'll be thinking of you and hope everything goes well. This time, your surgeon won't be surprised by any reactions, so I'm sure they'll be prepared to help you through this without problems.

Keep us posted!

Vasovagal syncope is actually where your blood pressure and heart rate drops abruptly causing you to lose consciousness. Sometimes being nervous, upset or afraid can cause this. Older people have been known to get it while straining to have a bowel movement. I would get it when I found something hilarious and would burst out laughing (normally one of those gut wrenching laughs that could make you fart or have you known someone laugh so hard they peed a little)? Being dehydrated, extremely anxious can contribute to it.

I had a heart monitor in my chest for over a year, and since starting my diet in November 2011 I haven't had it. I got the heart monitor removed in December.

I believe that the weight itself on my body was a big trigger too.

Try to make sure you are properly hydrated the day before surgery. I know it's hard to control, but try your best to go into the surgery less stressed, try to stay positive that the surgery will be a success, there will be no strain on your heart this time and you will be on your road to healthy new you.

Sometimes positive thoughts do help control your anxiety.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
