At what point did y'all start wearing girdles? Or whatever you call them and do they help the extra skin permanently?

I wore a pair of Spanx the other day. I am seven weeks post op. Since they were my pair from pre-surgery, they were pretty comfortable.

I would like to know what are the options available for this type of garment? I know there are Spanx but not sure of other options for this type of situation...

I would love to hear others recommendations.

Any department store will have a large selection of body shapers. You can wear a body shaping tank that is a simple camisole type thing to high compression-squeeze you & contort you full on body suits. Even Target sells the simple kinds.

I wear a Flexees brand waist cincher/girdle daily. Frankly, if I am wearing a bra.... I wear a girdle. Don't leave the house w/o it. It's comfy but also stops the bulging and the muffin top effect. I've worn these garments for 9 years and only took a week break post-op

I carry most of my weight in the belly and have worn the girdle to help keep it sucked in and tucked up so it doesn't hang and cause a permanent "apron". I'm 1/2 way to goal and think that there is a good chance for it to shrink to normal.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
