Miralax (or the generic). Mix with any liquid and you'll have relief.

If you have difficulty with a hard, dry "plug" because of the Constipation, glycerine suppositories and a lubricating jelly (e.g. KY jelly) help prevent serious straining, minimize pain and prevent tearing. After that, lots of liquids and Miralax close to hand should make it better.

Miralax took a couple of days to work for me. I was taking colace instead and it was really helpful, like the next morning. :)

I went just over 2 weeks without pooping and it was not fun. No discomfort, but the body just needs to move a bit, you know? Soluble Fiber supplement (I just use the Target brand generic) and Miralax.

You will need to up your liquid if you take Fiber - it works through bulking and if you bulk without liquid, you create dry bulk. No good. Miralax is an osmotic laxative. It works by pulling fluids from other areas into your intestines. So the combination of fiber + Miralax needs even more fluids. But it works. May take a few days.

Also, now that you have an idea that your diet can cause this - consider adding a stool softener to your diet routine - if you have any questions ask your doctor. I added 1 capsule of fish oil a day, and 1 tsp evoo or pecan oil to about 3 oz of protien drink in a Blender Bottle and drank the emu.

For a brief period I also did a stool softener every other day, and that helped too.

My doc told me prune juice had too much sugar

Mine did as well. In fact, he told me to avoid all juices.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
