My surgery is one month from today and I'm freaking out. I have a buddy I'm talking to about her experience with the VSG, and she has done wonderfully. I am just afraid that I will hate it. I have had my lap-band for almost two years and I'm 10-15lbs heavier than I was when I GOT my band. I threw up or "slimed" every day. I am so nervous and afraid I will feel trapped in this new decision, even though I'm so desperate to get this weight off. I am also scared that I'm not mentally strong enough!

Anyone with helpful words or advice either way would be so appreciated!

Thank you!

I totally understand, my husband do not want me to have the surgery, since I had the Lap-band and with all the complications and ending up in the ER 3 different times. He wish I just to cancel me date for Aug 9th, I keep saying NO! On the other hand I am excited and now counting down the days, but in the back of my mind I am starting to freak out toooooo. My mind is wondering all over the place.

I know exactly how you feel... Ive questioned myself throughout this journey but I think you need to remember two things... one, why you began your journey in the first place and two, I've heard people say "you may have complications due to surgery but you can also have complications due to keeping the weight on". Good luck to you! I cant wait to get my surgery date! God bless you and your decisions!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
