Hey all my fellow July 18th sleevers, let's have an update!!! One week out and I lost 12 pounds since surgery, on full liquids and enjoying that so much more than clear!!! Getting most of my fluids. I am able to drink about 4oz of Water about every half hour and I make Soups and can only have about 1/4 of it before I am full and I love that feeling of being able to stop eating and push it away. Before hand I would finish it even if I was full!! Although I do feel like I am wasting more food :) Love to hear how everyone else is doing and what you all are eating :)

I had my one week post op and I lost 7 lbs. I've been feeling great but so tired of the liquids! I get to start the pureed stage on Friday. :) I love the fact that I am not craving foods and I don't really feel like I am missing anything. I'm very happy with my decision to be sleeved! :)

1 week out and I'm already so tired of the liquid diet. I feel hungry and I'm pretty sure it's not "head hunger". I'm not having any problem getting down enough Protein or fluids. When I was struggling to get down a ounce of Water an hour, I couldn't imagine that it would get so much better so quickly. I'm still losing the Fluid weight I gained post op. That's typical for me, I always gain weight after surgery. Anyone else have this issue? It really started coming off last night. I was up peeing every hour. I'm almost back to my pre op weight. My two biggest incisions are still sore and I'm still taking pain meds. The pain from the gas in my chest is getting better. A friend suggested sipping very warm water and that really seems to help.

GREAT JOB chris!!!!

go for my 1st post op visit tomorrow...BYE BYE DRAIN!!! i'm super happy about that! its more of a nuisance than anything...it makes me feel handicap...i know weird but it does...i guess it's just in the way and i'm conscious about it so i'm cautious with my movement, etc. maybe its a mind thing...who knows.

i have a few questions for my surgeon but i will see if i have enough guts to ask when the time come...lol

-what size bougie did he use? just curious

-is there a pic of my stomach i can see/have?

-how often should i have BM's? at what consistency? (sorry) lol he prescribed me stool softeners but i haven't had to really use them...there has been a couple of days i did not have a BM.

BONUS QUESTION - was my liver fat? he will probably say "LADY DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY LIVERS I SEE A DAY...I DON'T REMEMBER & IT COULDN'T HAVE BEEN TOO FATTY I PERFORMED THE SURGERY!" LMBO no i'm just kiddin' he's really down to earth and cares.

I'VE LOSS 13 libs OF ME SINCE SURGERY!!! and have 75 more to go! WHOOT! WHOOT!

update:

-my taste buds have not swayed!

-my appetite is down - i get hungry maybe 1 a day (don't get me wrong i still have desires from commercials/thoughts/sound of things lol)

-my drainage is less and clearer

-i have discomfort/itching in my drain incision

-i have mild pain at the site of the incision over my belly button

-i think the heat outside takes a toll on me (i feel faint/shortness of breath/sweaty even once inside air conditioned stores.)

-HOT FLASHES!!!! what's up with that?! lol

-slept the whole night for the 1st time last night

-resting better - each day i sleep longer and longer

-work out 30 min. twice a day - just treadmill...walking

-if i had to guess i would say 4 oz. is my limit

-Chike is STILL by far my FAV Protein shake!!!!

-getting all my Protein & liquids in!

-i FINALLY set a goal weight! 125!!!!!! wish me luck!

-burps/passing gas no problem...no gas pain also not excessive thank God because i've read people that does it all the time...hehehe

-happy to report my Panera Soup experiment is going ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!!! i can't believe i was trying to put myself through that torture. lol

I completely know what u mean about the drain. I was supposed to get mine out yesterday and my doc cancelled all his afternoon appointments, so it's tomorrow for me also. Handicap is exactly how I feel also, I can't bend or walk fast, it's so annoying, can't wait for tomorrow!!!

How's everyone doing, I'm on puréed food and I feel so much more normal, Being able to chew, I get full super fast like after 5 or 6 bites and have to stop for a half hour but that's why I did this, I love it!!! Since the 18th I am down 14 pounds, so about a pound a day which if that's the case I'll take it!! But I haven't been excersizing yet so u think that's why it's not going faster. On liquids I just had no energy at all, I walked 1 or 2 days. So now I can have eggs and oatmeal and other good stuff so hopefully I'll be up and walking today. Here are some stats

Started pre-op 7/11 weighed 280

Date of surgery 7/18 weighed 269

Today 7/30 weigh 255

Love to see how everyone else is doing

I'm still on full liquids till Wednesday. Just have zero energy. One of my incisions, the large one is still leaking a pinkish/clear liquid. Anyone else have this? I went up in weight after surgery, but now back down plus ten pounds from date of surgery.

I've stalled, too. Are others still having pain? I still have pain at the larger incisions, that they pulled the severed stomach out through.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
