Starting To Resent Hubby:(

Recommended Posts

I hate to say it, but I'm finding myself increasingly irritated by my husband. I'm fighting like hell to get myself healthy and attractive, and he sits right next to me eating corn dogs, pizza, chips, etc., etc. We used to enjoy our cocktails together and of course I can't do that now...hasn't slowed him down a bit. I'm starting to feel like the designated driver at the party...not so fun:(. I know this was MY choice, and it is MY journey, but he has a lot of weight to lose to and I'd think he'd consider taking this opportunity to start working on it...or at least have more respect for me, and how difficult this process is. I know everyone has to find their own journey/motivation, but where's the partnership?? Btw, I'm 16 days post -op.

I remember for the first 5 or 6 weeks after surgery, I was a little crazy...easily angered, very emotional. Be careful not to say or do anything that you will be sorry for. Maybe you're overly sensitive right now. Just take a deep breath and hopefully things will seem better.

I agree with Doxie mom! I was sleeved 21 days ago and I am easily irritated and seem to have no patience. My husband is in excellent shape and healthy and has been amazingly supportive, but he still has to eat and since he doesn't cook, I have been cooking really healthy meals for him. GUESS WHAT? I get irritated watching him eat a Grilled chicken Breast, potatoes and a salad! Go figure?!?!?!?

Our sleeve is a tool that we were blessed with, but I know I have a long way to go to fight my own demons! Hang in there I hear it gets better and easier!

BTW - I have lost 20 lbs in the first 2 weeks and have not lost a thing in the past 7 days! What about you?

Thanks for your replies. Yes, part of my irritation is that the scale has completely stalled! 6 days and nothing:(

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
