Jumping Through The Hoops

Recommended Posts

I am hoping to have some surgery sometime in October. I have already started the process so I am really excited about this. It feels right this time. Three years ago I attended a meeting and thought I'd give it one more shot on my own and now when I went to this current meeting I knew it was time.

I just wanted to get started with an online support group so once I do have my surgery I have a good group of people to pull knowledge from.

I keep thinking that in three months I will have a tool that will help me lose weight. I know it's a life long committment and I am feel I am truly ready. I have already been "practising" and have been making myself do a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise a day. I want to be so completely ready for when the time comes.

Hello and Welcome! I am pre-op as well, and I have a few more hoops to jump through before I get my sleeve. The VST community is a great place and a wealth of information. You'll enjoy it. I know I have. :) Good luck to you in your continued journey.

Hi I am new to this forum also. I am in the 2nd mo of my 3 mo weight loss attempt. I see the surgeon next Tuesday. It will be oct/nov before I can get the surgery if it is all approved. What a bunch of steps!! A lot of work to take a chance at not being approved by the insurance company. My PCP doesn't seem too interested in this process. I sure hope he does what is needed. My BMI is under 40 but I have the co morbidities. I will be glad when I walk through the waiting!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
