It's so cool to read everybody's bios...it's so nice to MEET all of you fellow bandsters! :(:D :D

LOL on the "ladies' room" gibe, Intant. I LOVE what you say about thinking we're unique, and finding out we're typical instead. Makes a challenging journey muuuuch easier, at least for me. :D

I'm Miss Wisconsin...oooh wait...maybe not...

I'm Jennye...27, soon to be 28...live in Wrightstown, WI which is between Green Bay and Appleton...hmmm...single...same situation as Michelle and Alexandra said earlier...alcoholism...unfortunately we still own the "condo from hell" together and it has been on the market for 2 years...he has moved out and hopefully once it sells I can finally wipe my slate clean...been dating but nothing promising...

I'm the mommy to my little rat Rummele who is a little tiger cat and my beast Fischer, a Vizsla and the best damn walking partner in the world...put it this way...if he thinks I'm not going for a walk he runs upstairs, opens my dresser drawer and starts prancing around with my socks...

I'm currently in pursuit of my Masters...Management and Organizational Behavior and have worked at Wisconsin Public Service, an electric utility for 8 years.

I've been at a standstill for the past few weeks with my band...my nice and tight fill ended up being too tight thanks to some antibiotics bothering my tummy and stress from my Mom having a stroke...now with the unfill...watch out...bolt it to the floor...I'm getting another fill hopefully back to my comfy tight on the 16th...so far I have lost 69 lbs...I'm hoping to lose another 31 leaving me at 150.

Other than that...I've been MIA for some while and trying to get back into the board...I've missed you guys!

We've missed you too, Jennye! Hope things are getting back on track with you, now that your Mom is doing better. *hugs*

Sandy and Terry, welcome!

And anyone else I might have missed. :(

I love reading everyone's bios, too. I'm just not very good at remembering much of anything... :D

Hey Penni~

You have got to go see the new line up!! Steve Augeri is awesome!

He has a unique Steve Perry-like sound and is a hottie! The new drummer Deen Castronovo is a thunderous drummer and is also a hottie! Ive had the pleasure of meeting him and having my pic taken with him after a show in Dallas. Neal Schon is still a heartthrob and his guitar is smokin! Jon and Ross are still crankin out the hits as well.

Go pick up a copy of their cd's Arrival or Red-13...you will not be disappointed!

You might also pick up the Arrival 2001 DVD and crank up your surround sound! OMG!!!

Talk to ya soon!

Bonnie

Hey everyone,

Well it's going on week three and I am so excited as of today I am down 24lbs. I thougt I would be stuck at 20 pounds because week two the scale did not want to budge. I thought to myself...what if this doesnt work. But I added a little tae bo and 20 mins of walking and that did the trick. I still find myself trying to eat too much. 4th of july was a killer. I only hasd a little at first then one two many stffed eggs and up it came. Not a pleasant experience. It felt as if it was stuck in my throat. Well that ended my love afair for food last night. Do any of you struggle. I sometime find myself eating when I am not hungry. I never noticed that before. although Im gratefull that now I stop at a cookie instead of a batch.

I struggle many days, but a year down the road, it's much easier. Once you learn the band is going to win, no matter how hard you fight against it, a sort of acceptance sets in and takes that rebel out of you. Also, seeing the weight loss and it's effects on how you feel, how you look in your clothes, how much more mobile you are all are factors in deciding how bad you really want that one last bite.

It's strange, but a year later, having an Un-fill seems almost as foreign to me as having the band and restriction did in the beginning.

good luck to you!

Leatha

encouragment is the things that get us through. Thanks for the support. Had a better day today. although I haven't had any restrictions I feel as if I can't wait. I loved how much easier it was when I first came home from the hospital. Hopefully I will be able to break the addiction. Thanks again!

Rica

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
