Have been watching a lot of youtube video blogs and notice a lot of people do a lot of lip smacking, as if to kswallow saliva between sentences, subtle, but I noticed. A little disturbing. Am I imagining this?

I think it's imagined...

Oooohkaaay. Will have to dial down the radar a few notches. I thought it might have to do with not being able to swallow normally due to decrease stomach size.

I know you are being serious but this post along with your followup response made me chuckle. The sleeve takes some getting use to but after about 8 weeks we start adjusting to the fact our stomachs are small.

I noticed the same thing! I was like ugh... I cannot stand noises that come from the mouth... If this happens to me I will be beyond upset n will do everything n my power not to smack... LOL

I was serious, and I too get irked with the smacking. Old men (i see a lot of geriatric patiemts) love to smack, makes me crazy!!! Hope it doesn't happen to me!

I think that they were thinking and/nervous. Some people just aren't public speakers. I noticed it as well. Think it's the equivalent to "um" lol. That's why everyone should go through some sort of community theater. Builds confidents and allows you to feel comfortable with people watching

I knew you were serious, but I have not noticed this... And I hope I don't become a smacker.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
