You should be ok. The point of the diet is to help shrink the liver. As long as you didn't go wild eating everything in site, covered in lard, and chased with a Pepsi... just resume the diet and DONT DO IT AGAIN!

You can do this!!

You may be fine for your surgery, but you obviously have some food issues that you need to work on. Hey, you're not alone there, but you don't wanna have this kind of episode on day 3 after your surgery. You could really hurt your sleeve and yourself. Can you be sure this is not going to happen after the surgery? If the answer is no then you need to get some help and get your eating issues resolved before having surgery. Whatever caused you to have the panic attack needs to be addressed. Best of luck.

This is true. However, that infamous "head hunger" is a mutha! You may still want to eat, and if you do, don't rely on feeling full. You may not recognize the feeling right away and end up getting sick.

My advice is to be mindful of everything you put in your mouth...and take it SLOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWW. ;)

My Surgery will be on the 16th of July, and I too have cheated on my pre op diet.

The surgeon put me on a only liquid diet for 9 days and 1 clear liquid. Today is day 3 and I've cheated :(

I'm also low BMI 38, and called my surgeon's office and they said I should be ok, just don't do it again!

:-) hope this helps!

Yes you do have food issues to work on and YES you'll be okay for surgery.

I've never understood why surgeons put patients on pre-op diets before surgery - unless it really is someone in need of liver shrinking. Because, really, who succeeds at going cold turkey from an addiction? The vast majority of people DO NOT, and I, personally do not see the huge difference one week of liquids makes prior to surgery. All it does is make patients miserable and when they have trouble sticking to the extreme diet change, they feel sad, helpless and like failures.

Now, that said, getting used to liquids prior to surgery is going to help you. Because after surgery, cheating on the diet can mean life or death. That sounds overly dramatic but I assure you that it is not. You need to heal and you can cause a life-threatening leak if you cheat yourself at that point.

I wouldn't stress about it, but I would take this opportunity to evaluate when you're eating and why. If you can pinpoint these issues prior to surgery, you can eliminate them while you're on your way to goal and be happier and healthier in body AND mind once you're at goal.

You'll be fine, don't stress!

We only had to do a 4 day liquid, and I only did three of that, I did just fine, and I lost 5 lbs in those three days. Yes, it is important for the liver to not be swollen, because they don't want to nick any of the organs. You should be fine, in fact I drank that one day I should of been on it, but it was my last hurrah. I'm fine, survived it, and everything went fine...Good luck to you!! Oh by the time you get this, you will be home from your surgery. I hope it all goes well for you!!

The pre-op liquid diet is hard, but it's worth it in the end. Hang tough and you will get through it. ((Hugs))

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
