Has Anyone Changed Surgeons? Will This Affect Getting Approved?

Recommended Posts

Has anyone changed surgeons? Did it prolong your getting approved. Nothing has been submitted to insurance so I figure now is the best time. I just don't feel comfortable with my choice:(

Will the new Doc make you start over with the diet?

It's not the doc that decides this, it's the insurance company. If she has 6 months of documented supervised weight loss, it doesn't matter who it was with.

If you aren't comfortable with the surgeon you are with now, then change- don't worry about delays. Each surgeon is going to have different tests/ procedures they will want done prior to having surgery, plus depending on their schedule. Some surgeon's are busier than others which could affect scheduling your surgery, so to give you a definite answer is difficult. I would say there will be a minimal delay, but like I said you aren't 100% confident in this person- then make the change now. You want to have all the confidence in the world in that surgeon and his office on that big day!

I started out with the bariatric surgery team at Celebration Hospital. It was taking so long to get any appointments for meeting with people I needed for the pre-op insurance approval that I wasn't going to make it to surgery before my insurance ran out.

I remembered a previous call with a person that recommended the program at Flagler Hospital. I didn't start the approval process with Flagler until July 14, 2011. Melissa Smith is the best person to get you in the program. I feel in love with Melissa and everyone else I meet in the program. They fast-tracked me to surgery which was done on August 24,2011. My appointment with the Celebration dietitian was going to be on August 22.

I felt like a number with the Celebration program and a close friend with the other program. I am an example where the change was not because of the surgeon but the program itself. It was the best decision I ever made.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
