How did you choose/decide which doctor in Mexico to use?

I keep leaning towards dr Kelly because of all the great things I've read on here but there are so many others mentioned and some that are cheaper then him as well. Sooooo exhausting.

A big vote for Dr. Kelly!

I just felt immediately comfortable with him when we initially spoke on the phone.

I chose Dr. Alvarez at www.endobariatrics.com and have surgery with him on Aug.2

You have to do your own research and go with your gut feeling about the Dr. that you choose. I have spoken to people that have been sleeved by this Dr. and I have done a lot of research on him and his credentials. For me, he is closer to where I live so my journey home will be shorter and I did not feel comfortable traveling into Tijuana for surgery. I also wanted to stay in a hospital for my care after surgery, not a recovery house. That and the fact that he is a top notch surgeon and has very great feedback from former patients. I had to look at other things besides the cost of the surgery.

Everyone has personal reasons for whom they choose. I have nothing bad to say about any Dr. in MX because I have no reason to. I can only tell you why I chose the surgeon that I chose.

Best of luck with your decision !

I've heard great things about many of the doctors but my vote is for Dr. Aceves and his entire team (including the top notch hospital). But do your research, talk to a few folks who have used that surgeon and follow your heart. The good news is that there are lots of very experienced surgeons in Mexico.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
