K so heres the deal I have on 3 different occasions in the last six months lost a big chunk of weight rapidly but now I'm stalling I started at 550 lbs went to495 in 2 months through just working out in 2 months got laid off from my job and decided to get vsg (workouts stopped) so knowing I had a preop diet coming up I pigged out to 518 from 518 to 479 in 3 week preop diet so 479 on may 21 surg date and a week later down to 461 now I'm 6 weeks out and I'm 443 so 18 lbs in 5 weeks since my 461 I'm afraid because I'm not losing chunks of weight and also for like a week straight I'll be the same weight then all of a sudden I lose 5 lbs I also question my caloric intake I average between 1200-1500 calories a day isn't this too much for a recent vsg patient?

Your doing good. Your losing weight and that's what counts. Benjamin gave some good tips. But remember, everyone loses at a different rate. Take it 1 day at a time and keep it high Protein always. Make sure u get in all your Water and exercise will help. :)

I think that might b my problem I know I'm supposed to pack in Protein and I have the last few days when I was on mushy stage for 4 weeks I had eaten pimento cheese and potted meat in those little cans I'm six weeks out btw and I now can eat anything except steak on mushy stage it seemed like I was always hungry and eating now the last few days with solids I don't eat as much and have been around 500-800 calories so maybe it's looking up ....I hope

Did your surgeon or NUT give you a dietary plan to follow? These classes were very informative and has helped me a lot.

My surgeon only talked to me for five min total and nut for 15 min signing waivers and 2 min post op basically handing me hard to understand but I didn't really need detailed instruction because I get the gist I feel I'll b good here on because the solids r taking care of my constant eating and easier to get in Protein as I hate Protein Shakes and had a struggle getting any protein in .....maybe that contributed to me not losing as fast as I was hoping?

The way I see it is that after surgery your stomach had a trauma. It takes time for your stomach to heal. My surgeon's office put us on a 3 week liquid diet, 2nd 3 weeks was a pureed diet, 3rd 3 weeks was a mushie stage diet and then anything was game. I think it it would benefit you to get rid of the carbs, find a Protein Shake that you like with minimum sugar and focus on getting nothing but Protein in. Yes, I know, it's really hard, but it is doable. Eat foods that are really soft and moist. Try fish, eat some Peanut Butter. Keep it very low carb and you will start to burn weight really fast. Hope this helped. :)

Make sure you're not eating and drinking at the same time. Someone of your size should probably not only be eating 600-800 calories a day. You should be fine eating between 1000-1300 in my opinion. Your body is still burning a lot more calories just breathing than someone 200 lbs and you are also male...and men require more calories. . Don't forget about the famous "3 week stall". You are only 6 weeks out and most people hit a wall at 3 weeks out that lasts a few weeks and the weight just stalls and then kicks back in again. Trust me you are going to lose a ton of weight. Even if you can't work out a lot, try to at least get a walk in once a day. Seriously, even if it's just walking around your HOUSE. Any extra movement helps. Best wishes!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
