What kind of port?

wow. I can't believe they left that in! What is the point?!?!?! That was one of the first things I checked for when I woke up from surgery. My doctor even used the same incision point to take the port out that he used to put it in.

Did the doc say why?? There was a lady having the revision surgery in Mexico when I went and they removed hers.. strange?!

It sounds very strange. No one that I know that is a revision still has their port. I would definitely question the doctor about why it wasn't taken out when they took out the band.

In my opinion, it sounds like an error. The port is part of the lap band, in that you wouldn't have it if you didn't have the band. Therefore, it should have been removed with the band. I'm thinking it was an oversight. I would call the surgeon and tell them they need to have it removed at their expense. You already paid for the revision so you shouldn't have to pay for an additional surgery.

Also, I'm SO SORRY that happened to you. I can only imagine how upset you are about it :(

I hope that insurance will cover it or something. I would also STILL contact the surgeon that did your surgery. Maybe they can pay for the removal? I am truly sorry that you are going through this. It has to be tough. :(

Thank you all for all of your support! :)

You're very welcome. I am not sure about everyone, but what you are going through was a fear of mine so I get it. I hope you can get it resolved soon!

I would still contact the surgeon. They should pay for the removal AND the cost of the plane ticket to get it done. Or better yet, demand they pay for you to have it removed locally. I'm not sure how easy that will be since you are dealing with Mexico, but tell them if they don't pay for it, you will make it known to the world about their error. Tell them you're on these forums. They know a lot of people get their referrals from these forums and I would think they wouldn't want their reputation smeared all over the boards. Just a thought. I'm so sorry you are dealing with this!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
