Did you get headaches?

I didn't get headaches as much as dizzyness and shortness of breath. I think I didn't get alot of headaches because I really kept myself well hydrated. I drank drank drank....and strangely enough it's the one thing I have the hardest thing remembering now....I neglect my drinking now because I often don't have enough time to remember! I love liptons diet ice tea mix. It is decaffeinated, only has 1 carb and five calories. Prior to the surgery I loved my crystal light and sugar free koolaid but after the surgery, with the taste bud change I couldn't hack it and i'm not a big Water fan. So, the best thing for me is to drink this. It tastes good, it's easy just mix in with Water and voila I have my iced tea...

Italian lady, what did u eat 7 days post op.?..I'm so tired of broth, Jello, muscle milks, G2...

I know you are so tired of it....and you will get so tired of it believe me. However in the long run, you are going to be better off sticking with your broths and jellos. I didn't do the cream Soups because they just tasted nasty to me. I'm not saying dont eat the cream Soups. Give them a try. Try a bit of Tomato Soup with a dollap of plain greek yougurt. Or how about cheese Soup with some mild salsa on top (then strained). I made lentil soup and then pureed it (I love lentils they are not everyone's fav). Try your local lebanese restaurant, they make a lentil soup that is to die for and it's usually pureed.....it's called shortet addas:) pea soup with some sour cream? whatever you do add a lil bit of fat to things. I was eating sugar free chocolate ice cream with Sugar Free Chocolate sauce and fat free sugar free whipped topping (now I can't stand to look at the stuff). it just really depends on what your doc has told you but this is how I was eating and it was like spoon here spoon there. There were alot of dishes in my fridge with a nibble here or there gone from it:) But my family understood!

I'm on my way to a master's degree in applied psychology. I would like to use this toward counseling people with food addictions/eating disorders. I'm thinking of this from a psychological aspect. I don't believe that setting yourself up for perfection is psychologically healthy' date=' nor is encouraging anyone else to. In my experience the more you tell someone not to do something they will do it (Bobby, the stove is hot don't touch...what does bobby do? He touches the stove!)

I don't think a cheeto now and again is going to kill you, especially when you take in far nastier "crud" just by breathing in deeply. I didn't tell her to eat the stuff, I reassure her that her life is not going to change unless she wants to make that change. It is all up to us, what we want to do, how we want to manage. The first few months are the toughest, most challenging time both physiologically and psychologically, the worst thing to tell someone is that they can't do this or they can't do that and they should eat this or they shouldn't eat that. The most important aspect of this surgery is to have a healthy attitude toward food. I agree that taking in good things is very important from a healthy perspective; however you also have to allow room for being human, making mistakes, having a treat now and then and not beating the hell out of yourself for doing so. Food is not our enemy; it can be our friend if we allow it to be. So, instead of lecturing people on chemicals and garbage and what not it's better to encourage people with positivity (not empty positivity) but actual positivity to where they are able to be in a positive frame of mind, therefore when they become emotional food is no longer their go to, which is where the problem stems, not eating a few cheetos once a month. However, thanks for your feedback it was enlightening.[/quote']

I agree with you. Someone made a comment about science. I trust God not science. No one has the right 2 judge. You can give your opinion without judging. Justsaying.

I did not follow my pre diet 2 the tea. Im not perfect. It takes time.

Let's support!!!

Ain't no stoppin us now, were on the move !!!!!!
Sincerely
Zeta

Not eating Cheetos is perfection? My favorite weight loss blogger suggests that former carb junkies don't even eat crackers or Pasta. She uses cucumbers and shredded zucchini respectively. I don't go that far, but I don't get all offended when she says that it probably better to stay away from refined flour let alone junk food. There is something to be said of discipline and I sure was lacking in it.

Psychologists crack me up.

It's better to encourage people with positivity? Okay. I'm positive that Hot Cheetos are crap. Eat it or don't.

Maybe Bobby should have learned his lesson from the first time he touched the stove. Reading the World according to Italianlady was enlightening too. I'm Sicilian BTW. LOL!

Just to be clear: Judging the OP would look like this: You are a weak person because you ate Cheetos.

Who said that? When one misuses words or concepts, it cheapens them. That's why when someone dares to hand down a piece of advice someone does not want to hear, the immediate reaction is: "You judge people. You can't judge people. Stop judging people."

God gave us science. This is God's universe and science is an integral part of it.

I have a mastets in psychology and a phd I still believe if you don't change your mind set about food you will not be successful speaking about bobbie he is like 5 we are adults who hopefully made a responsible decision to change our lives to be healthy. Also she said she is addicted to cheetos and doritos food addiction is as real as drug and alcohol addiction would it be ok for one of them to have one drink or a little pot. Instead people need to be aware of their triggers and learn new healthy coping skills. Addicts cannot have just one of anything if that is their food or drug of choice

Sorry about the psychologist crack. That was uncalled for. I had some dealings with a few psychologists and psychiatrists back in the 80s when they couldn't seem to correctly diagnose Borderline and Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder in my mother. It gave me a bad taste of the profession. I think they finally figured it out in the late 90s.

I was dreading my psych evaluation, but it went off smoothly. I never mentioned my mother. She never asked. :-P LOL!

First of all, the slogan of AA is...."A Day At A time". ....just as this journey is a day at a time. Who said food addiction isn't real? You know what might drive someone over the edge? Nagging them and judging them, that just might do it.....now I'm putting this conversation to rest because fighting with the ignorant is a losing battle....good for you that you are Sicilian....I'm not.

The Sicilian thing was a dig because I love the over the top reaction I get, especially from northern Italians on the subject. They don't like Sicilians. We on the other hand don't care.

See the previous comment on judging.

Now it's nagging and being pushed over the edge? Seriously? :-D

I said ESPECIALLY northern Italians. I love that old "ASS/U/ME" thing. I first learned that old adage form "The Bad News Bears." It wasn't clever then either.

Okay, I'm done too. It was fun though.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket. I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
