Well I called the office and I was told I would know monday, the day before my surgery. Who does that. OMG! I don't even want to pack until I know for sure.

Christy that is ridiculous. My surgeon won't give a date until all clearances are done and in his office. He does this so there are no surprises as it gets close to surgery and everything is ok.

are you having an EGD(Upper Endoscopy)?? I know they can check there too.

Johnathan

That also test for h.pylori with blood test. They may ask for additional test such as the breath test. If your blood test show negative for H. Pylori they may not ask for an EGD. or a breath test.

Yea I know bc mine was a blood test but she had said they didn't do a blood test or any test at all and I thought maybe they did an EGD and took a tissue sample but she said no to that too lol

I'm thankful my surgeon doesn't even book the surgery date till after you pass all the tests. I would be really upset too if my date was moved. I wish you guys best of luck!

PS. I'm surprised some people don't have to do EGD. Mine was vital because of acid reflux. Apparently if there is too much damage in the throat from reflux the sleeve is not an option.

My doctor didn't test for it either.

I had to do the EGD but the results won't be back for 7 to 10 days.

I had to have an Upper GI. When the results came back it indicated I had a Hiatal Hernia. I was worried my doctor would cancel my surgery, but I learned this is not unusual. My surgeon repaired the hernia while he did my sleeve.

So my surgery is July 16th' date=' pre op appointments july 9th, and my coordinator listed all the tests being run for my blood work and then mentioned an EKG as my preop. I asked if he is testing for H. Pylori and she said he usually doesn't. Am I the only one not getting tested for it? Hmm.... I'm confused[/quote']

I did not have the H. pylori test unless they did as part of upper GI and/or Pre-op blood work. Of course the GI doc said everything looked good which was a relief since my dad has Crohn's & my mom's dad had it too.

That's a good thing cos my auntie had her sleeve done last year & I don't think they checked all that before her surgery. She couldn't drink anything for like 3 months. She was re-hospitalized 2 or 3 times for dehydration. Once she got over the rough patch she's been doing better.

They usually do it as part of the blood work. However, if it is inconclusive they do the breath test. The results from the upper GI is conclusive also if they get it back in time.

I didn't get an egd. He said we would do the upper gi first if any further concerns he would follow up with an egd. It came back normal , I was worried the band had damaged my esophagus and now hope that the gi was enough testing.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
