Nopee :/ she just said blood work for certain tests such as CBC, lipids ( etc, all sounded typical) and an EKG (electrocardiogram). When I asked specifically about if he will check for H pylori bacteria she said he usually doesn't which seems odd because sounds like everyone else has been tested for that preop! Who knows though, hardly anyone does their jobs correctly anymore maybe I am getting it done and she just doesn't know it is a part of it. Don't know if it's worth demanding it or not.

Idk seems strange to me but I guess the Dr's usually know what to look at on the test results

Good luck

The funny thing is that my doctors didn't order the Hpylora test but the insurance company insisted on it.

I can understand why b/c I don't think it is something you want to have when doing one of these surgeries.

I would definitely double check and/or insist on the test. If its positive, you have a chance of developing ulcers. Imagine getting an ulcer with 15% of a regular stomach. Its better to find out now and resolve it, even if it means postponing your surgery. Good luck!

Any doctor I have talked to always checks for the h pylori before any kind of bariatric surgery. My doctor found it during up endoscopy when they took biopsies of my stomach lining. He also found that I have chronic gastritis and some erosion in my esophagus. Being checked for h pylori is very important becuz h pylori can cause ulcers and stomach cancer. It just has a long treatment with a lot of side effects. I personally would request from the dr to have the test done. And of they don't then I would see another dr to have the test done.

I had my blood tests done today & this was one of them and I swear I will be so bummed if it comes back positive and it pushes my surgery back! I still have almost a month to go until surgery and I just don't wanna push it anymore! I am so ready for this life changing event! Hopefully they will have my results back tomorrow and I'll know for sure! Crossing Fingers!

Now I am freaking too. I had it years ago. It formed a nasty ulcer- I swear I thought I had broken ribs. It did clear up pretty easy. I wonder if it can come back? Trust me, if you do have it- take care of it.

Funny how I have been battling that bacteria since I was in H.S , however when it's time for my surgery , sucker wasn't there., after surgery, boom there it is! Got some antibiotic by the GI doc but my surgeon discontinue them 4 days later, retested: gone! I am starting to believe that I am made for that sleeve! Lol, stayed 2 days in the hosp, no pain, back to work by day 5, size 6 in 8 months, no excess skin, I still have my shape unlike others. My only side effect so to speak are deflated boobs, again I went from 40 dd to 36 d. I am the perfect specimen, yes I said SPECIMEN !

I completely agree with everyone else! If they didn't test for it then I would tell them I want it and if they don't respond by doing it then I would find another surgeon.

Good Luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
