Stomache Feels Empty At Night

Recommended Posts

My stomache has a very empty feeling at night, it feels like I'm hungry but its there even after I have a snack. It's really a yuck feeling to try and fall asleep with, anyone have insight to what it may be? I do take dexilant in the morning for acid stomache. Any ideas?

Sleep! It cures all. I remember that feeling well. If it got bad, I just remember walking. It seems when I went for a walk, my empty feeling went away with the release of endorphins from exercise.

I do need to get my walking up. I'm going to definitely do as you suggest! Thank you for your response, I was worried it was only me :)

I have the same feeling at night and first thing in the morning. I hope it eventually goes away because I find it annoying.

I have the same feeling! And when I drink my Protein Shake in the morning I get nauseous for about an hour. I hope that it goes away. It really brings me down. I wish I can figure out why I get it and how to prevent it. Please any suggestion will be appreciated.

I drink some Water. Sometimes hot water. It makes me feel full-ish and I go back to sleep... But then I'll have to get up and pee... Can't win em all

If I feel too hungry, it's hard for me to fall asleep. Warm milk works both if you tolerate it

I has this problem at first I would get up and have a tiny drinkable yogurt and go back to bed. I talked to a friend of a friend of mine who had sleeve done last fall and she warned me about waking up hungry.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
