Any Crossfitters In Here?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone :) I'm due to get my sleeve mid August and just wanted to see if there are anyone else who does CrossFit here and how long before you could get into it post op?

I'm from Australia and I know the US has a pretty big following so hoping someone can help.

I would like to know too! I can't wait to start CrossFit. My ortho won't let me until I get some of my weight off because of prior surgeries.

I just had my surgery on the 21st (two days ago). I was told around week 5 or 6 I could get back to it. My doctor said it take three months to fully recover. So I'm not going to go full charge when I get back. which Crossfit do you all go to? I'm Crossfit Silverback in Spring, Tx.

That's what I was thinking, 6-8 weeks.

I start my pre-op 2 week diet in 5 weeks so will stop then. Can't imagine I'll have the energy.

I'm at B.T.S Crossfit, NSW (Afew hours north of Sydney)

Crossfit is intense. I waited 8 weeks to do it again after surgery. It still kicks my ass every time - and I love it!!

I started on crossfit about a month after surgery however told my trainer what type of surgery I had, he has adjusted my workouts. I have not started the heavy lifting again and stay with the light kettle bells during training. I will start to increase my weights soon. Also I only crossfit 2x's a week now.

Been thinking about doing it for a while now. But the one right down the road from me closed, or maybe it moved, not sure what happened to them. Love doing power cleans.....really gets the heart pumping!

I crossfit 3x a week and have done so for 2 months. It is brutal, the first three weeks I was in a constant state of soreness. I am almost 2 years post-op and have always been a diligent exerciser with yoga and dancing and running and zumba but even with all that my first class was tough! I can't imagine trying to do this when I was still 100 lbs overweight. I am 50 lbs from goal after a loss of 124 lbs.

I'm a Gold Coast crossfiter and am 3 days out from surgery, my doc said wait between 2-3 month, but start on 2kg, I couldn't stop laughing and replied 'my dead lift and back squat is 100kg'. Oh dear I hope I can hit big scores again and can't wait to get a bloody Kipping pull up,

How are you all going and how long has it taken you to get back?

Well, I'm 32lbs down since my surgery on June 21st. I've been walking and completing the eliptical. I see my doctor this coming Friday (6 wk) for my check up. I hope he lets me get back into CrossFit. I'm sure my back squat won't be lifting 180lbs. I feel energetic, but weak. Before surgery it was hard, but I felt strong. It's good to see there are other CrossFit people out there.

Great Job!

Wendy

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
