I have gout too....if you stick to a low purien (not sure if I spelt that right) diet it will help with flare ups. avoid cured meats, like bacon and Jerky, especialy deli meats. avoid red meats and alcohol as well. I still have some of these things, in moderation, but I havent had any flare ups since I started limiting those sourses of protien. hope this helps! :)

Do u get the uric acid cleanse over the counter? Still waiting for alpurinol and steroids to kick in.

I got mine from my local health/herbal store. I dont think it made he gout go away any faster. I used it to get rid of any excess that might be left.

I had surgery 10 months ago, lost 110 lbs, am 25 lbs from my goal weight. I don't know if I have gout or not - never did before, but in the last couple of weeks I've gotten sudden horrible pain in my middle toe and the one next to my big toe... but not the big toe... to the point where I can not walk. It sometimes lasts 10 minutes, sometimes an hour. No swelling or redness but I can't imagine what else it would be.

My diet is mainly Protein - I eat meat (red mostly, some chicken, some pork), nuts, cheese and eggs.... my treat is watermelon... My goal is 60 -80 grams of protein a day - I also use GENEPRO - Protein Powder - 30 grams in one serving added to my coffee in the morning. I drink at least 60 ounces of Water a day, normally more...

Can you, do you get gout in different toes other than the big toe?

I've not yet gone to the doctor for it.. Thanks, Kim

I have been on the preop diet for about 3 weeks. I have had gout in the past and now with all the Protein I am having a flare up in the arch of my foot and I really am starting to ache all over. This is horrible. I heard cherries help ( fresh or dried).

Or tart cherry juice

It's possible to get gout in any joint but the most common is the big toe. I have never gotten it anywhere other than the big toe. I would get the occasional gout flareups but after surgery I kept getting them. Generally gout attacks don't last for 10 minutes. It usually peaks at night for hours and lingers for a couple days. There's usually swelling and redness. Also there is a burning sensation and can be very sensitive to touch. Even laying a bed sheet on my foot can be painful. My doctor ended up prescribing me a daily pill to reduce my uric acid. After I told her about my attacks she tested my uric acid level and it was extremely high.

Perhaps what I am experiencing is something different then... sometimes the pain seems to start in my foot directly behind those 2 toes but it usually involves those as well.I am needing to schedule my 1 year check up, I can always ask at that time... Thanks! Kim

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
