I am 4 weeks post op and I am still always tired. I feel great when I wake up but shortly after moving around I'm pooped. My arms and legs feel heavy and I'm sleepy. I get my Protein and fluids in. Could I possibly need B12? Anyone have any suggestions?

Hang in there. I remember feeling the same way. It takes awhile for the body to bounce back. Keep drinking ur Water, getting Protein, and taking Vitamins. If u feel like u should be feeling better- call ur doc and see what they think.

My doctor said everyone should take B12 at least weekly. However, my levels were really low on my pre-op blood work for my B12 and my Iron, so I take both daily. I'll be 5 weeks out tomorrow. I still tend to go to bed early and take one nap a day, but I find that I'm more "with it" and have energy when I'm awake now. I would either try B12 or call the doctor & see if they can check your levels first.

I take B12 every night and can really tell the difference when I don't take it.

At 4 weeks out it's normal to feel fatigued. It wouldn't hurt to take B-12 sublinqually every day. Not only that, I really like the ideal of getting a B-12 injection. I will be checking in with my PCP this coming sweek for a Vitamin B-12 injection. Thanks you guys! Your all awesome. :)

I remember feeling tired until about 6-7 weeks out. I take B-12 daily as well as Iron, but my surgeon told me to up my Protein from 70-80 grams a day to 90-100 grams a day. It truly helped and my energy level has been consistently great this last 5 weeks.

My doc has me on the sublingual B-12 daily. You can get it at GNC stores. Helps a little. I'm at about 5 weeks andstill have some trouble with fatigue. However, my calories are still low and it's hard to get a lot of energy when you don't have enough to pull it from yet. I have good days and tired days. Just listen to your body and from what I've learned hear that will continue to improve.

Also try b-1. When i had deficiencies from the band i felt as you do. Very tired and weak also arms would fall asleep at night. I was thiamine (b-1) deficent for a very long time. its worth a try.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
