Do you need a little motivation to get "Back to Basics" with your eating? Well, come Monday I'm going to practice what I preach and I'm going to kick my own butt with my food! I've been doing ok, but usually about once a month I need to eat really clean for a few days to make my stomach go back down and to flush out any extra fluids I'm holding on to. I'm going to do my Basics Bootcamp. If you'd like to join me or would just like to follow along, you're more than welcome! I'd like a little company!! But... my only request is if you say you're gonna do it... DOOO ITTTT!! ;-) I will hold you accountable for sure.

If you're not sure what my Basics Bootcamp is, you can read up on it here: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/28139-the-basics-boot-camp/

I will be logging all of my routines and foods at My Fitness Pal. It is set to "friends only", you can find me at the link in my signature line.

YESSSS lets do it. I already started this morning anyway because this week I've been out of control. Last week I was a saint and it started with a little reward but got out of hand. So thank you my dear and hold me accountable.

Okay it's on! I will log everything at My fitness Pal!

So, during the boot camp, you don't eat any red meat?

No I don't. No beef and no pork either. I find these tend to make me hold onto fluids, however if anyone doesn't have this same effect and want to skew the rules to fit their needs, by all means! Everyone is different. :)

I am so in! I'm actually starting tomorrow, Sunday because my pre-op diet starts on Friday and I want to get the full five days in. I have been in a stall for the past 2 weeks even though I have been watching what I eat and exercising almost daily. Next week I'm going to mix it up with an aerobics or Zumba class in addition to the elliptical.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
