Just found the forum and decided to join. Its nice to be someplace with people who know what Im going through, and that I can talk to and wont be judgemental. :)

Had my surgery last Tuesday. It was supposed to be a full Bypass surgery, but my Doctor decided against it when he got inside, due to some scarring from a major hernia I had a few years back and an enlarged liver. But everything went well and I've already lost 11 lbs since surgery. Have a long way to go but its a start.

Welcome! So am I understanding you correctly that you went in for a full gastric bypass but got a VSG instead? If so, from what I have learned, you are lucky! :) I chose the VSG to avoid all of the malnutrition problems of a bypass and I am getting my sleeve on July 23rd. I would say that 11 pounds in a week sounds pretty darn amazing! Congratulations!!!!

I agree with Mamaof8. I didn't even know about the sleeve 14 months ago when started this journey. I thought I was headed for a g-bypass. Then when I learned about the sleeve, I was all for it. No malnutrition - no dumping. (Well, I have heard of a few people upchucking but I don't think it's like dumping.) Welcome to the forum!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
