I'm only 2 weeks out, but from what I read about others stories, when time passes are we suppost to eat more calories to loose more weight and avoid the stall? Lol I'm confused

Your body will go through many many periods of adjustment. Mostly it just takes time, patience and faith in the process to see those numbers move again. On the other hand, many people believe if you change what you are eating, the amount you are eating or different combinations of foods (upping carbs, fats &/or protein) can shake up your system enough to let go of weight and get you out of a stall. Others will tell you it doesn't matter or that you just need to up your exercise. It really is very individualized!

Congrats on your surgery. Follow your doctor's plan and feel free to not move through the food phases too quickly. You'll do great!

Are you worried about the 3 week stall? The key with that... expect it! It's gonna happen at some point! Stalls are completely normal and almost an essential part of our journeys. When it happens just keep drinking and working on your Protein and don't worry about the numbers. Eat what you can when you can and don't worry about the rest right now. Let your sleeve take care of you! Honestly, the stall is going to happen at some point. I don't think anyone on this forum who is more than a few months out can say they have lost every week.

Congrats on being two weeks out! The hardest part is almost over!

What's the three week stall? Im 3 weeks.

We all go through a stall after surgery. It typically occurs around 3 weeks after surgery.

Everyone, at some point, goes through a stall near the beginning of their weight loss. For most people its around the 3 week mark. Its kinda our body's way of taking a break and dealing with everything we've done with it! It passes :) And it probably, most likely, almost certainly, will happen again at some point!

Your weight loss will stall, at least once. Don't worry about it, just do what you know is right. I have been stalled for a while now, as far as weight, but my pants keep getting smaller anyway!

How long does the stall typically last?

Everyone is different. Usually from one to two weeks. Mine lasted 3. Figured out I need about 80 ounces of Water. Broke the stall two days ago and 3 pounds down.

My stall started at a little LESS than two weeks. I tend to lose fairly fast, so I guess it is OK that my stall started sooner too. I think some of the stall is that we begin incorporating puree. Our bodies have literally been starved to shrink our giant fat folk livers. My philosophy is that our bodies think they have hit the food lottery when we first add in puree. After a few days/weeks it should realize oops, still wanting/needing more to stay this size, and we drop again. I'll let you know how my theory works out. LOL!

I never stalled either. We are all so different in what works and what doesn't and how our bodies react to this change.

Post surgery I tend to stall for 2-3 weeks at a time, then drop 3-5 lbs during a week, then back to stall.. My hypothyroidism probably has something to do with that. So be it. I just keep on truckin'.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
