Hi, I'm still pre-op and will be sleeved this Monday. I'm so excited and I want to make the most of this experience! So my question is... When did you start exercising after getting your sleeve? And when did you go from light exercises to moderate/heavy workouts?

Thanks!

:)

I started walking right away, not long or strenuous walks, but a good ten minutes a day for the first 2 weeks I bumped it up to 30 minutes until I was 6 weeks out. That is when I was cleared to do more by my doc. I started doing exercise videos.

At UCSB we have a free gym, but it is filled with serious gym junkies and I don't feel comfy enough to go yet. So I do Jillian Michaels's 30 Day Shred and some Leslie Sanson videos. I use my HRM to keep track of how much I burn. With Jillian Michaels I burn around 320 calories in 25 minutes. I also do a few arm exercises and lunges and squats.

Hope that helps!

I started walking as soon as I got home from the hospital and increased the distance every day. I waited on moderate/heavy exercise until my doctor cleared me at four weeks.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
