Atkins Diet For Pre Op?

Recommended Posts

Hi All! I am just starting the sleeve journey and my surgery is on June 29 in Juarez Mexico with Dr Rodriguez. I got the pre-op diet instructions from him and I will start this on June 18 for the 2 weeks prior to surgery. I read all of the blogs/topics on the forum and I have heard everything from doing nothing but Protein Shakes to complete liquid diets during the preop diet plan. My instructions simply say to keep your carb intake less than 50 grams a day and high Protein intake (no less than 20 per serving) and no less than 6 carbs in the same serving with no caloric restrictions for each day. Of course, drink as much Water as you can handle then drink some more lol! Oh, and the protein consumed must be in solid protein ex: chicken, lean steak, hard boiled egg, etc. This to me sounds a lot like the Atkins diet?! Anyone else??

Did a lower fat version of Atkins induction with under 20g of carbs a day, even though I did have a bit more sharp cheddar than I think they many have wanted me to eat. I had just under 2 weeks with the way my scheduling went, felt great and dropped about 14 lbs - I guess my liver was teeeny-tiny on surgery day.

Thank you!! This makes me feel so much better! I kept thinking I was going to over eat and not "shrink my liver"!!!!

My Dr had me do a 30 day pre-op with carbs of 30g or less (total carb not net carbs). The NUT told me that at 50 or less you will shrink your liver. I think my Dr says 30 just to make sure people stick within the limits and do not try to eat up to the 50.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
