Don't think I've lost a ton in my 3 month supervised diet but I have been saying goodbye to my "friends" pizza, pastas, corndogs, fries, soda etc

I wish I could say I've followed a strict diet but I know I'm going to do great after surgery...

It's nice to "part" with these foods and go on with my life! I have to say I have fallen in love with Greek yogurt especially Fage and will eat that for dessert any day! Yum!

I love watermelon and my Nut says its fine since its not junk and a great source of Water so I eat that for Snacks.

I love tacos and have omitted the shell and just crumbled three tortilla chips on for crunch...I had jaw surgery last year and was on soft foods for over 6 months...I have to have crunch up until this surgery lol

I also love Fage. It has 23 grams of Protein in a cup and counts as a Fluid, too.!

Here is the great thing about this surgery, you are not saying goodbye. You are saying see you later. Yes, you might decide some of those things you don't like anymore. But how hard is it to say goodbye to something you don't like? With all of these favorites of yours, you can still get them, you just won't see them as often and will eat a LOT less of them. I found that with a lot of my favorites, I really don't like them so much anymore. However, knowing that I COULD have a little if I really really wanted to makes it much easier to let go. I have noticed that when people tell themselves they can't have something, they want it so much more. This way, I care very little! You are going to be surprised how much this surgery changes a lot of your perspective on foods you thought you could never let go of.

I, too, am saying goodbye to some foods, but mostly I'm worried about not being able to eat out for awhile. My hubby & I are empty nesters and eat out all the time! That's probably part of my problem!! ;-) But I do know eventually I can eat much smaller portions of "normal" food, so I've warned my husband that eventually, when we can go out again, I will just steal a few bites of whatever he orders! He's gonna lose weight just from our change in habits!

Yes, it's only a temporary departure, I can honestly say that I enjoy food far more NOW than I did pre-sleeve. I am not concentrating on stuffing myself silly and now eat slower and enjoy the tastes and textures MORE.

I know eat whatever I WANT and not whatever I CRAVE, I just don't want a whole lot now!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
