Help 2 Weeks Post Op Today Hungry And Eating...

Recommended Posts

I had a revision on May 11. I feel hungry all the time and can eat/drink up to 5 ounces at a time(pureed Soups, Jello etc). I still feel hungry after that at times. I have lost 25 or so pounds since pre-op diet and weight loss seems to be slower than I thought it would be. Again, surgery was 14 days ago. I feel like I have already failed and ruined the sleeve.

My lapband was a nightmare and it was a fight to eat EVERY SINGLE TIME so the feeling is so much different now that its gone and Im not throwing up every meal I think I am not noticing the "signal" for full or just ignoring it. I am doing Protein Shakes at least once a day. Please help and let me know if this is normal. Will I feel the restriction once I get on solid foods? I have had a pretzel here and there and a tiny nibble here and there of solid foods but Im scared so I really try not to do that.

everyone is different, but you should feel the restriction,I do. if you are 2 weeks out you should be able to start on mushy foods real soon, but thats with your surgeons ok. start with eggs, any way but hard boiled. cottage cheese or yogurt.,if you still have concerns, call your dr,that why he is there, or should be there to help you I've called mine on a saturday and got a return call within an hour

do you have a support group to go to,maybe at a local hospital, they are great for info and ideas.the one I go to is primarily full of lap banders,i think im the only sleeve and a few gastric bypassers, but all the info works and is good to hear

I didn't really feel the restriction until I was on solid foods. I can drink liquids the same way I could pre surgery and never feel restriction from them. But then for a meal I will have 2 small strips of steak and be completely stuffed. I think you will really notice a difference once you move to solids.

Just remember to wait at least 1/2 hour after your solids to drink so you stay fuller longer.

Are you taking a PPI? I hear that acid mimics the feeling of hunger.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
